Documents Required for a Saudi Work Visa from Pakistan

The document set a Saudi work visa needs from Pakistan, the attestation order for each one, where Arabic translation belongs in the sequence, and the mistakes that send files back.

A Saudi employment visa is not one application. It is a chain of documents, each of which has to be obtained, attested by the right bodies in the right order, and then translated at the right point.

Get the order wrong and the individual documents are still valid, but the file is not usable. This guide sets out what the file contains, the sequence for each document type, and where translation belongs.

Quick answer: Obtain the document → prior attestation (HEC for degrees, IBCC for matric and intermediate) → MOFA → Saudi embassy or consulate → then Arabic translation. Confirm with your employer whether Arabic is actually required before ordering it, and start early enough that validity windows on the police and medical certificates still hold at submission.

What the file usually contains

Requirements vary by occupation, by employer, and by visa category, and they change. Your employer or recruitment agent’s checklist governs. That said, a Saudi work visa file from Pakistan typically involves:

  • Educational degree or diploma matching the offered role
  • Police character certificate
  • Medical fitness report from a centre approved for Gulf visa purposes
  • Passport, with sufficient remaining validity
  • Photographs to the specified size and background
  • Employment contract or offer letter from the Saudi employer
  • Experience or service certificates, for many professional roles

For a family visa alongside the employment visa, add the Nikah Nama, the NADRA computerised marriage certificate, and birth certificates for accompanying children.

The attestation chain, by document type

MOFA attests the seal of a body it recognises, so most documents need a prior attestation before MOFA will touch them. Which body depends on what the document is.

Educational documents

  1. Original degree, diploma, or transcript issued by the institution
  2. HEC attestation for university qualifications, or IBCC for matric and intermediate certificates
  3. MOFA attestation
  4. Saudi embassy or consulate attestation
  5. Arabic translation, if required

Certain professional roles also involve verification through the Saudi Culture Attaché. Whether that applies depends on your occupation, so confirm it with the employer rather than discovering it at the embassy.

Police character certificate

  1. Issued by the relevant police authority
  2. MOFA attestation
  3. Saudi embassy attestation
  4. Arabic translation, if required

Medical report

Usually completed at a centre approved for Gulf visa processing, which handles its own reporting route. Confirm with the employer or agent whether it enters the attestation chain at all, because in many cases it does not.

Marriage and birth documents, for family visas

  1. NADRA computerised version, not a handwritten record
  2. MOFA attestation
  3. Saudi embassy attestation
  4. Arabic translation

Our attestation hub covers each stage, and the MOFA attestation checklist walks the chain in full, and if the family element is the complicated part, the Nikah Nama UAE spouse visa guide explains how that form is handled, most of which applies to Saudi submissions too.

Where translation belongs, and why it is last

Attestation stamps are applied physically to the original document. A translation prepared before those stamps exist cannot show them.

When the employer, the Saudi ministry, or the embassy places your translation next to the attested original, the endorsements they are checking for are missing from the translation. That is the most common reason a Pakistani applicant’s Saudi file is returned, and it has nothing to do with translation quality.

Translate last, unless your employer explicitly instructs otherwise. Some employers do ask for an Arabic version earlier for internal review. If yours does, follow the instruction, and tell your translator so the document can be reissued once the final stamps are on.

Arabic or English?

Both get requested, and the answer depends on who receives the file.

Many Saudi government submissions require Arabic. Some employers accept English for internal documents such as experience certificates while requiring Arabic for anything going to a ministry.

This is worth one message to your employer before ordering. English to Arabic starts higher than Arabic to English, the two are genuinely different pieces of work, and getting it wrong means paying for the same document twice.

Timing, and the validity trap

The instinct is to front-load: get everything done as early as possible. That backfires here.

Police character certificates are commonly treated as current for three to six months, and medical reports often carry a shorter window. The attestation chain itself takes weeks. Obtain a police certificate at the very start of a long process and it can expire before the file is submitted.

The workable approach is to start the slow, no-expiry items first, educational documents and NADRA records, and time the short-validity items so they are still current at submission. Ask your agent when they expect to submit, and work backwards.

Name spellings across the file

If your degree says one spelling, your passport another, and your police certificate a third, attestation will not reconcile them. The reviewing officer will notice, and a mismatch on an employment file raises exactly the question you do not want raised.

Fix it at source where you can. Where you cannot, send passport copies with the translation job so that every document in the file is transliterated to match the passport rather than each being transliterated independently. Sending the whole set together is the single cheapest thing you can do to prevent this.

The mistakes that cost weeks

  1. Translating before attestation. The expensive one, and the most common.
  2. Skipping HEC or IBCC. MOFA refuses the document and you restart that leg.
  3. Obtaining short-validity documents too early, so they expire mid-chain.
  4. Using a handwritten birth or marriage certificate where NADRA computerised is expected.
  5. Inconsistent name spellings across the file.
  6. Ordering the wrong translation direction without asking the employer.
  7. Translating documents one at a time, which lets terminology and spellings drift.
  8. Starting a month before the intended travel date.

What we do

We translate the full Saudi document set between Urdu, English, and Arabic: degrees and transcripts, police character certificates, experience letters, employment contracts, Nikah Nama and NADRA certificates, and identity documents. Send the set together and names, dates, and place spellings stay consistent across every document, which is what the reviewing officer is checking.

We do not attest documents, do not represent clients at HEC, MOFA, or the Saudi embassy, and do not promise acceptance. What we can do is stop you translating at the wrong point in the chain, which is the part of this a translator is actually placed to help with.

See Saudi, UAE, and Qatar document translation for the service detail, educational document translation for degrees and transcripts, and police character certificate translation for clearance documents.

Send your checklist and the documents on WhatsApp, and we will tell you what needs translating and when, before you spend anything.

Frequently Asked Questions

What documents does a Saudi work visa need from Pakistan?

Typically the educational degree or diploma for the offered role, a police character certificate, a medical fitness report from an approved centre, passport copies, photographs to the required specification, and the employment contract. Family visas add the Nikah Nama, NADRA marriage certificate, and children's birth certificates. Your employer or agent's checklist governs, since requirements vary by role and category.

Does everything need Arabic translation?

Not always, and this is worth checking rather than assuming. Many Saudi government submissions require Arabic, while some employers accept English for internal documents. Ordering Arabic when English was enough wastes money, and ordering English when Arabic was needed means doing it again. One message to the employer settles it.

What order do the steps run in for a Saudi file?

Attestation on the original first, translation after. For a degree that means the university, then HEC, then MOFA, then the Saudi embassy or consulate, and only then the Arabic translation. Attestation stamps go on the original, so a translation prepared earlier will not contain them and the reviewing officer will see a mismatch.

Does my degree need HEC attestation for a Saudi work visa?

University degrees and transcripts normally require HEC attestation before MOFA will accept them, and matric or intermediate certificates go through IBCC instead. Saudi submissions frequently also involve verification through the Saudi Culture Attaché for certain professional roles. Confirm which applies to your specific occupation before starting.

How long is a police character certificate valid for a Saudi visa?

Most authorities treat one as current for three to six months from issue, and medical reports often have a shorter window. Because the attestation chain itself takes weeks, sequencing matters: obtain these documents at the point where they will still be valid at submission, not at the very start of the process.

Can I use a handwritten birth or marriage certificate?

Generally no. The chain expects NADRA computerised versions of birth, marriage, and family registration documents. If you hold an older handwritten union council record, start the NADRA replacement early, because everything downstream waits on it and it is not instant.

What does the translation cost for a Saudi work visa file?

It follows the document rates rather than a package price: Arabic to English from Rs. 1,500, English to Arabic from Rs. 2,000, legal documents from Rs. 3,000, and educational certificates from Rs. 1,500. Most Saudi files run to several documents, so send the whole set and we will quote it together.

Do you handle Saudi embassy attestation?

No. Attestation at MOFA and at the Saudi embassy or consulate is a government process completed by you or an authorised agent. We translate the documents and tell you where translation belongs in your particular sequence. We cannot speed up, submit to, or guarantee an outcome at any government office.

What if my name is spelled differently across documents?

Fix it before you translate. If your degree, passport, and police certificate carry different spellings, attestation will not reconcile them and the reviewing officer will notice. Send us passport copies with the job so every translation in the file matches the passport rather than being transliterated independently.

How early should I start?

As soon as the offer is confirmed. Every step in this chain runs on someone else's schedule, and several documents carry validity windows that force you to time them rather than simply front-load them. Applicants who start a month before the intended travel date are usually the ones who miss it.
